Palate
Take the richer glass
Dried fruit and a darker sweetness. These are the visits that usually sit in that chair. One of them is the day.
- Aberlour is in the village. The stillhouse tour is shut for rebuilding, and small tastings are what they are offering just now.
- The Macallan is on the estate at Easter Elchies. There is no pavement from Craigellachie.
- Ben Nevis, at Lochy Bridge, is the heavier glass if Fort William is the bed.
- Royal Lochnagar is the small distillery beside Balmoral. It drinks darker than Dalwhinnie, which is why it sits here.
- The Glasgow Distillery call the flagship fresh and fruity, and their own notes for that same malt also run to dried fruit. They make three styles, including a peated one. Ask which tour you have booked.
Johnnie Walker Princes Street is the afternoon if you want several styles under one roof. It is an experience. The whisky is made elsewhere.
This is a direction, not a promise about the cask they pour on the day. The Telford Bridge walk is a fine Speyside afternoon once the visit is done.
