Royal Lochnagar
A small distillery beside Balmoral. Pair it with the Dee valley, and book when the castle is busy.
Royal Lochnagar is at Crathie, a mile from Balmoral. It is one of the smaller visitor distilleries, which is the point: the day has room for the valley as well as the tour.
Book ahead when Balmoral is open to the public, because the same roads fill. Ballater is the practical town for a bed, a wander, and dinner. The castle’s hours live on Balmoral’s own site. A distillery ticket does not open the gates.
