Terms

Using this guide

Updated 11 October 2026. The pages are a guide, not a shop.

What this is

The Malted Map publishes a visitor guide to distilleries, breweries, bars, and the rest of a day in Scotland. The contact is themaltedmap@gmail.com. There is no account on this site. themaltedmap.com is the site, and themaltedmap.co.uk sends people here. By reading on, you agree to these terms.

Bookings and the drink

We do not sell alcohol, and we do not take the booking. A button on a place opens the venue's own page. If you reserve a tour, a table, or a room, that agreement is with them, or with whoever they use to take it. Their price, their cancellation rule, and their age policy are the ones that apply.

A tasting is for adults. In Scotland that means 18 or over, and the venue checks. Each place notes what its own page said about children, and the venue's page has the current rule.

A booking link may earn a commission on a tour, a driver, a room, a walk, or a family day. When it does, the link is labelled, and the price you pay the venue does not change. The address for that conversation is on Get in touch.

The notes

Each place carries the date that note was read from the venue. Doors, hours, and prices change after that. The lists are the places checked so far. Scotland has more distilleries, breweries, bars, and golf courses than appear here. Closed works stay off the map.

The writing

The notes and the layout are ours. The names of the venues are theirs. You may share a link to a page. Please do not republish the notes as if you wrote them.

Adverts

Spaces marked Advertisement are for travel and things to do. Alcohol advertising is not used. Walks, family days, and a round of golf do not carry a tasting offer. The privacy notice covers the Google tools, once they are connected.

Outside links

Links to venues, to Google Maps, to WalkHighlands, and to anyone else leave this site. We do not run those pages and are not responsible for what they say, what they sell, or how they treat your data.

What we can promise

We take care with the notes. We do not promise that a door will be open, a tour will run, a price will hold, or a train will be on time. Check the venue, and the timetable, before you set off.

The guide is free to read and provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for a loss that comes from relying on a note here, from a venue's decision, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes

These terms can change. The date at the top is the day they last did. The version on the page is the one that applies.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction.
