Speyside sits inside the Highland whisky region, and it is the sensible place to start a first trip. The venues are close enough that one booked tour and a walk can share a day, with the night in the same valley.

Plan a single tasting. The drive between Dufftown and Glenlivet is short on a map and still the wrong time to be the driver. Stay in the strath, or book a driver for the day, and give the afternoon to the Speyside Way rather than a second dram.
