A long weekend in Speyside
Dufftown or Aberlour for the weekend, one booked tour, and a walk out to the iron bridge.
Sleep twice in the same place. Dufftown, Aberlour, or Craigellachie will do. Moving bags between glens is how a weekend turns into a tour of hotel car parks.
Friday. Arrive without a tour. Walk the village, eat, and read the booking email so you know the meeting time.
Saturday. One distillery. Glenfiddich if you are in Dufftown, Aberlour if you are sleeping in that village, The Macallan if a driver is taking you to Easter Elchies and back, or The Glenlivet if you have a driver for the glen. Aberlour’s stillhouse tour is shut while they rebuild it, so that Saturday is a tasting, not a walk around the works. Afterwards, the Telford Bridge walk if the afternoon is still bright.
Sunday. Leave slowly. A second visit is a lovely idea for the next morning, or the next trip. The motorway has never improved a whisky.
