Palate
Ale from the oak
One brewery on this map still ferments in old wood. The visit is the house, and the ale is the excuse.
Traquair House Brewery sits under the chapel at Innerleithen. Some of the oak tuns have been there since the eighteenth century. They use East Kent Goldings, and on 10 October 2026 a tour was half an hour with a tasting of the three ales, if you write and ask.
The Borders Railway gives up at Tweedbank, so Innerleithen is the rest of the journey.
This is a direction, not a promise about the beer they pour on the day. One visit. The others can have a morning of their own.
