Beer
Traquair House Brewery
A brewery under the chapel at Traquair House, still fermenting in old oak, with a short tour if you book it.
The brewery is in a wing of Traquair House, directly under the chapel, and some of the oak tuns have been there since the eighteenth century. They found the whole kit under the family junk in the 1960s and started again. The hops, they say, are East Kent Goldings. Scotland supplied the patience.
On 10 October 2026 tours were by request: half an hour, including a tasting of the three ales. Write to enquiries@traquair.co.uk. The house, the maze and the grounds are why most people come, and the ale is the excellent excuse. Innerleithen is the town. The Borders Railway ends at Tweedbank, which is still a journey on from here.
