Northern Highlands

Glenmorangie

A working distillery on the edge of Tain, east of Inverness. The firth does the rest.

Glenmorangie is in Tain, on the A9 north of the Dornoch Firth. From Inverness allow a bit over half an hour with a clear road, and longer if you are treating the drive as part of the day.

On 10 October 2026 the venue listed June to August as open every day, and September to May as Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:00, with a two-week closure over Christmas and New Year. Tours are worth booking. The visitor centre itself was listed as not requiring a booking. Confirm both before you cross the firth.

Give the afternoon to Tain or the journey back. A tasting and a push up the NC500 on the same evening is the plan to refuse.
