Stirling
Stirling Distillery
Gin and whisky in the Old Smiddy, under Stirling Castle. One tour is the visit.
Stirling Distillery is in the Old Smiddy on Lower Castlehill, below the castle. They make gin and whisky, and they call the whisky the first made in Stirling in 170 years. The tour is a fine visit on its own. The Curly Coo, down on Barnton Street, is another evening entirely.
Their site lists the door as open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00. Read it again the week you go. Castle days run long, and a tasting at the end of one is still a tasting.
